I’m a psychologist, education counselor and ESL teacher with a solid theoretical linguistics background.
My handle, “m4ri” (or m⁴), refers to my name, as well as to my four main hobbies or projects, as color coded on my website:
🔷 I’m first and foremost a lifelong video games lover, enthusiast and collector; I talk a lot about video games on my social media (and irl in general), so I decided to start the videogame diaries project as a way to register my personal history with gaming.
🟢 A significant part of my love for video games was their soundtracks, and I inevitably got into 8-bit game music composition through Famitracker. Please check the marinsf chiptunes project page for more details.
📒 I’ve always had an appreciation for science fiction/fantasy literature and their realms in particular. Creating my own worlds and stories has always been a thing of mine, so I eventually turned to Minecraft and started the minecraft diaries worldbuilding project to make those plans come true, through creative building and writing.
🌸 I’m also fond of creating digital art pieces; I typically make my own profile pictures, headers and illustrations using a variety of digital drawing and image editing techniques, with no AI involved.
All my main projects are accessible from my carrd website. Other hobbies include numismatics 🔗 (and related collections), speedcubing, writing 🔗 (albeit very rarely), collecting old tech and game merch. In general, I just like to study and learn about different stuff and am a pretty praxis-oriented person.
